The Bandari is the only buildable cruiser class ship for settlers. It was introduced along with the cloverfield in the 2013 battlesystem update to bridge the gap between frigates and capital ships.

The Bandari is equipped with a unique weapons array, consisting of disruptor beams and pulse phasers along with the ability to fire a range of torpedoes.

The weapons array on the bandari allows it to defend itself from attacks by any ship - although not as well as ships specifically designed for that purpose. For example a bandari could kill two buildable fighters per battletick for four slots, compared to an anachrom which would kill 2 fighters per battletick for two slots. This makes the phrase Jack of all trades, master of none quite an accurate description of the bandari, however its multiple uses can make it useful as a multipurpose defence/escort ship.
