Food
The term food refers to all real or replicated foods. The real food, however, only consists of herbal nutrients. Food is normally produced by Farms, Algae Farms and Hydroponic Domes. 3 Food is also produced by Headquarters and Colony Headquarters although since only one of these types of buildings can be built on each colony they cannot be used for mass production. Also food can be replicated, either from Iridium Ore or Plasteel using an Industrial Replicator on a planets surface. Crew members also need food which can be either beamed up to the ship from a colony, otherwise if there is no food in the cargo bay or the replicator has been manually activated then food will be automatically produced by the ships replicator. Each unit of food produced by the Ships replicator costs one unit of energy. Five people can be fed with one unit of food per round.
