This module ionizes the ships hull making the ship resistant against radiation for a short time using the shield energy and some of the ships energy.
+

Since this is a prototype it is cheap to produce. But, the use of this module leads to a complete overload on the main energy circuit, causing it to break down after a short amount of time.

It may also cause a [[Grey Alert]] status on your vessel several hours after use. This status may only last a few hours.

Ionizer Prototype
This module ionizes the ships hull for short time to providing Radiation Immunity. This requires at least 50% of the energy in the shield emmitters and a portion (20%) of the ship's energy to be directed through the shield emitter. This leads to an overload and an ion pulse, which is strong enough to ionize the hull. Although this experimental version is cheap to produce, but the use of this module drains a significant amount of the ships shields. An alternative option would be the Hull Ionizer module which provides the same radiation immunity effect without draining shields, however this costs 100 Credits.
