This ship is vital for torpedo producers and big military fleets. Without them it would be impossible to transport large amounts of torpedoes from colony to colony or from a colony to a fleet, to import photon torpedoes in order to create poloron torpedoes and nemisis torpedoes, and it would be extremely hard for torpedo producers to deliver the torpedoes to their customers.

The other alternative for the Denison is the Boreas class, this is available to purchase for 400 Credits and boasts an additional 300 torpedo capacity when compared to the denison, however it does use an extra 0.5 ship slots. Generally this makes the Boreas class better than the Denison as it stores 280 torpedoes per slot as opposed to the denisons 200 - however if there is a limited amount of torpedoes need transporting a denison may work better as it saves 0.5 ship slots. Also the Boreas has a credit cost to purchase making it much more expensive initially - although often they can be purchased for much cheaper on the Talaxian Ship Auctions.

Another alternative is the tep'Duj class credit transporter which matches the Denisons 400 torpedo capacity for only 1.5 slots.

The Denison class is a dedicated torpedo transport - one of three existing in STNE. While most NPC transports have sufficient torpedo capacity to not need a dedicated transporter, settler transports such as the Whorfin and AntaresB can only transport 10 or 20 torpedoes - this makes transporting large amounts of torpedoes expensive (in fuel costs) and time consuming. Therefore a torpedo transport such as the Denison, Chordat or Boreas is required (or a military ship with high torpedo capacity such as the Rei´Kon).

When compared to its only buildable alternative, the Chordat the Denison is vastly superior in almost all aspects, having equal flight range and over double the torpedo capacity - this makes the Denison the most widely used buildable torpedo transport in the game with 45 existing on the EN1 server as opposed to 5 chordats (as of June 2020).
