Barion Ooze Layer
A foul-smelling mixture of Barium and some unknown components of biologic origin. It is superficially unstable, however it can regenerate itself meaning maintenance of a vessel coated with it is significantly simpler. The ooze will react a little bit aggressive to the ships hull, but that's not a really problem, because the ooze will use the hull to replicate itself. So it can be used on every known ship class.
