Deuterium
Deuterium (AKA Deut) is vital to keep ships and colonies powered. It can be created by a Hydrolysis Facility or collected by ships with Bussard Collectors. It is the fuel for spaceships. You can collect deuterium in deuterium nebulae, or in the atmosphere of gas giants. You can also synthesize it from an Ice Planet or Water Planet (Class-N).
Deuterium in space can be found in a 'sparse' or 'dense' Nebula.
Sparse Deuterium Nebula contain 3 Deut per energy used, when collected by a tanker. Effects on ships entering: None Effects each tick: None
Dense Deuterium Nebula contain 6 Deut per energy used. Effects on ships entering: Failure of shields. Effects each tick: Failure of shields.
Deuterium is also necessary in the reaction of a warp core on most ships. Warp core capacity is increased by 0.5 when you inject pure Deuterium, or it can be combined with 2 Antimatter, 1 Dilithium and 2 Deuterium which will result in an increased of 50.
