The Brinok class frigate had a difficult introduction into the Cardassian Military. Designed after the Dominion war to replace the Galor class, the process was fast, and ill-thought. The End production was no better than the seemingly outdated Cardassian Galor vessel. However, it was too late, and many of the vessels had already been made.
A solution was discovered however. With a few modifications, the Brinok could be used as a very luxurious Diplomatic vessel, which the Union desperately needed to forge strong bonds with the Federation, Ferengi and the Romulans.
However, many of the Brinok classes still remain in militaristic roles, as part of patrols and assault groups.
