Amaterasu, is also known as Amat on stne. Its a Carrier class ship, and also the most 'able' ship of its class. It can carry 28 fighters, more then any other settler starship. Not only this, but it has a large hull and high shields for protection, aswell as 8 Basic phasers and 8 torpedo tubes for planetary bombing or combat without fighter support.

By some, its a "cheap iowa", being less effective when compared on slots but not by much. By some, its a awesome militaristic tactical capital ship, capable of striking fear to the enemies hearts. By some, its just plain awesome, and people make armadas of these and arm them with over a hundred fighters, sometimes.

Being relatively cheap, its building cost is very low compared to the Iowa. In exchange, this ship is less effective in combat, when not equipped with fighters. Equipped with fighters, you have a much more capable, and in numbers, more capable ship then even the iowa.

Note: A thing to consider, is that this ship, being relatively cheap to build, can be equipped with avatars for more effectivness. You can kind of build a cheap iowa, and change its price (and abilities) by using avatars. This saves slots too. But remember, the fighters will see no benefit unless you equip them, which is silly.

for the cost of a iowa (2750 Credits ATM), you could have: 1 amat (-375 C) 1 level 3 defence avatar (-1000 C) 1 level 3 Weapons officer (-1000 C) 20 Klaestrons (-150 C)

This gives your Amaterasu a nice boost: Up to +26% Damage. Since you naturally average about half, thats a boost of 13% so your plasma torpedoes will do more like 27 Damage, Quantum torpedoes more like 32 Damage, and Phasers more like 9-10 damage. Up to +34% Less damage taken. Since you average about half, thats a boost of 17%. So you hull looks more like: 1404, and your shields more like: 1638


Combined with 20 Klaestrons this makes a formidable force. For the same slots and cost, you have a fleet which is:

  • More powerful against Frigates (Fighters DO NOT spread fire, un like capital ships)
  • A fleet which could attack and possibly win against a Iowa in combat. This would happen in nearly half the engagements, it all depends on the Iowas luck. If the Iowa plan attacks, you will lose but still inflict major damage.
  • I have to stress this again.. Against almost all Frigate, and even frigate/covette fleets, this fleet will do very well. Soo... Why not have a mix? - 1 Iowa, 1 Amat, 34 Klaestrons. It would work well, as a 'anti-anything' fleet.
