| Alliances Overview | ||
Few alliances in the history of the galaxy have had a more.. complicated structure. Formed from the merger of The Triumvirate and The Galactic Foreign Legion each half of the alliance maintained its own policies with only foreign policy being united between the two. While each star nation within the Alliance maintains what would effectively be considered nominal independence in other galactic power blocs this does create a certain level of bureaucratic complexity. This complexity is exemplified in the alliances 'leadership'; each of the formerly separate alliances maintained their existing power structures with The Triumvirate half keeping its three member council responsible for all 'Trium' matters and GFL keeping its single leader in Skull Leader responsible for all GFL matters. However a joint council, the Trium-GFL council which has all three of the Trium council members and Skull Leader present handles all matters that effect both groups such as treaties, recruitment and defense matters as well as legal questions related to alliance integration and rule changes.
Defense
While most alliances maintain a united command structure Trium-GFL has no such concept, there is no alliance admiral or commander. Each nation is responsible for its own fleet and composition. The alliance can in times of crisis call upon the active militarized members to voluntarily contribute fleets to a combined fleet referred to as The Grand Alliance or The Grand Fleet. This fleet while seemingly united is still a collection of independent entities with no centralized direction besides consultation with the others.
Diplomacy
The Triumvirate-GFL Confederation maintains open communication with all the major powers of the galaxy but due to its stellargraphic position only has two direct neighbors: The Sons of Turul to the west and The Dell Syndicate to the east. However, entirely within its borders lies IMPERIO ESTELAR ESPAÑOL (The Spanish Star Empire) which is considered a protectorate of the Confederation along with some other independent star nations within its borders. These nations have agreed to allow the Confederation to monitor and approve their foreign policy in exchange for military protection and joining the common market.
