Desert or Class G Planets are one of the most sought-after planet types because you can produce massive energy very cheaply using Solar Satellites and Solar Arrays on them. This makes them ideal for energy-intensive uses, such as Antimatter production or Isolinear Chip production using Jupiter stations.  However, they can also produce nitrium (although less efficiently than Lavas).

Because of the availability of power from Solar Arrays, you should never use fusion reactors on a desert.  In other words, do not do this:

Planet class overview

Desert or Class G Planets are one of the most sought-after planet types because you can produce massive energy very cheaply using Solar Satellites and Solar Arrays on them. This makes them ideal for energy-intensive uses, such as Antimatter production or Isolinear Chip production using Jupiter stations. However, they can also produce nitrium (although less efficiently than Lavas).
