Antimatter is the opposite of matter. When matter and antimatter collide, they annihilate each other, also creating massive amounts of energy. This reaction is the only known way to achieve the amounts of energy required for warp travel. Antimatter is used along Deuterium and Dilithium to refill warp cores on ships, or to maintain warp cores on a planet's surface. It is also used in ship construction.
