Settlers can request higher Colonization Levels once they achieve the required Internal Reputation score. Higher Colonization Levels allow players to construct advanced facilities, to request up to 3 spaceships (1 x Indus + 2 x Antares) from the Federation (NPC), and to settle new Colonies.
In addition, there are some restrictions and protective measures related to Colonization Levels:
- Settlers at Level 1 operate Colonization Ships without using Energy. It is automatically replenished for them continuously.
- Settlers up to and including Level 4 are not affected by Building construction periods.
- Settlers under Level 7 cannot self-destruct ships, lead alliances, or evacuate Planets.
- Settlers under Level 8 can neither rob nor attack, nor be robbed or attacked.
- Settlers under Level 8 may not be attacked by Tribbles nor by weapons of mass destruction.

Tips:
- Once you have colonized a M-Class Planet, you can immediately erect Nature Preserves on all available forests to advance to Level 3.
- Before advancing to Level 8, you should make sure that all available ships have been requested, and that as many goods have been requested as your excess reputation will allow. These two options are disabled at Level 8 in order to prevent abuse of this feature.
