Energy-whip
The enery-whip is a ferengian hand weapon. It's used as a firearm not as a melee weapon. By making the typical motion of whipping, the energy whip shoots an energy charge which is like a phaser shot.
You can implement the Whip into your EPS system. It will deliver energy for a while.
