Stellar Cartographer

The Stellar Cartography is a feature of the game. It allows settlers to view the entire game map to take a closer look without having to use a ship to have to fly there and look at what you want. The stellar cartography also allows you to view large areas of the game map all at once, which is otherwise not possible. The stellar cartographer has other functions than just to look at the game map. You can plan routes from one destination to the other (Feature-Pack reqiured), Locate your nearest Federation SUP base/Ferengi ship, find dangers on the way to the next Deuterium Cloud and to Manage Coordinates. The game would be much more complex and almost unplayable without the stellar cartographer. The Stellar Cartographer can be found in the database, or in a ships Helm Control.

Limitations and Disadvantages

The Stellar Cartographer has many advantages, but there are some limitations:

- The Stellar Cartography does not show you if there are ships in a sector. Before flying in to a sector that you do not know, the LRS of the ship should be enabled.

- The Cartographer cannot see inside Orbit, nor can it determine if a Colony is inhabbited or not. (Young settlers up to level 7 can check if a colony is colonized by keeping the mouse pointer over the colony box.)
