Bussard collectors

Introduction

Bussard collectors are used to collect deuterium from a deuterium nebula. The collectors use EPS from a vessel to collect the deuterium.

Space Sectors

Bussard collectors can be used in both a sparse deuterium nebula and a dense deuterium nebula. The sparse nebula has a deuterium density of three, whereas a dense nebula has a density of five; this means that 40% more deuterium will be collected in a dense deuterium nebula.

Deuterium Collectors

There are some ship classes whose sole purpose is the use of their bussard collectors to collect deuterium; these vessels are known as deuterium (deut) collectors. These ships generally have a lage cargo bay (to store the collected deuterium) as well as larger than normal (for their size) EPS and energy storage (to collect the deuterium). Common deuterium collectors include the Indus, Kale, and Rigel. The DY-500, while not technically a deuterium collector, is the best colonist deuterium collectors in the game (for its slots).
