A [[Trade Agreement]] is a type of treaty that can be made between two settlers or alliances. To form a trade agreement the settlers must first have a [[Peace Treaty|peace treaty]]. Players with a trade agreement:

*Cannot fire upon each other, ships and colonies on red alert act as if they are on green, so completely passive.
*Beaming does not trigger any defensive reactions and goods secured using Beam Protection Points can be beamed away.
*The trade agreement by default includes a docking permit to the [[:Category:Space stations|space stations]] of the settlers involved (this can be changed on the station if needed).

All members of an [[Alliances|alliance]] automatically have a trade agreement with all other members. A trade agreement along with a [[Military Alliance|military alliance]] is required to grant [[Copilot|copilot]] rights on ships.
