In order to maintain a consistent look, much caution should be used when adding colours to the wiki. Only use colours in exceptional cases if they are substantively meaningful (apart from on your [[Help:User Page|user page]] where you can use them to your hearts content). When writing a wiki article pay attention to how you use colour. The wiki has several [[Help:Preferences#Skin|skins]] and when adding colour you must be careful to ensure that the article is easy to read in all of them.

Zur Farbgebung dient in Wiki wie in HTML das ''style''-Attribut. Bereiche, die man farbig gestalten will, werden in Tags eingeschlossen, zum Beispiel <code><nowiki><font></nowiki></code> für einzelne Buchstaben und Wörter oder <code><nowiki><div></nowiki></code> für Absätze. Im ''style''-Attribut färbt man mit den CSS-Anweisungen <code>color:#RRGGBB;</code> für Textfarbe bzw. <code>background-color:#RRGGBB;</code> für Hintergrundfarbe einen Abschnitt ein. „#RRGGBB“ steht für eine hexadezimale Farbangabe: Der Rotwert (RR) kann zwischen 00 und FF (entspricht dezimal 255) liegen, ebenso der Grün- (GG) und der Blauwert (BB). Man kann statt der Codierung „#RRGGBB“ auch die unten aufgeführten Farbnamen verwenden (ohne „#“).
