The cargo bay is where all goods are stored on a vessel. It can store resources, [[Syndicat]] items, as well as torpedoes. The only common thing that the cargo bay does not store is [[larne]]; that is stored on a ship but does not consume room in the cargo bay.

===Transporters===

Transporters are ships which have been designed for their cargo bay. They generally have in excess of 1000 times more cargo bay room than slots taken. Common transporters include the [[AntaresB]], [[Helios]], and [[Silverstar]], to name only a few. Transporters are generally used to ferry goods to and from colonies, as well as to conduct trades.

===Military Vessels===

The cargo bay is also useful on military vessels, despite the fact that these types of ships are almost never used to transport goods. Military vessels can deal a significantly greater amount of damage if they use [[torpedoes]]; in order to fire torpedoes in combat, the vessel must have torpedoes on board. These torpedoes are stored in the cargo bay, taking up one space of cargo room per torpedo.
